Outline:

Archaeological excavations in the course of construction of the North-South Underground-Line have revealed a section of the Roman city wall at Cologne, where, fronting on the Rhine, the wall incorporates one of the gates to the port and the outlet of a large trunk sewer. Very well preserved was the wooden lagging of the walls fundamentation. This unique find was drawn by hand, documentated in autocad and 3D laser scanned. Afterwords we formed a digital modell of the Roman Port Gate, which is part of a wider 3D reconstruction of Roman Cologne.

The 3D Modell is not visualized as a film, but it is an interactive modell in “Echtzeit”. See http://www.colonia3d.de/

2) terrestial laser scanning of the timber structures of the Roman wall along the riverside

3) The terrestial laser scan (Punktwolke) is coloured with photos of an external camera

4) The timber structure of the Roman wall along the riverside will be presented in a 3D- video

5) link between terrestial laser scanning and 3D-reconstruction
