Founded in 2003 by Cindy Ho, a New York City graphic designer and advertising art director, SAFE’s purpose is to help preserve cultural heritage worldwide. Membership is mixed: scholars, people in the professions, educators, students and other interested individuals. SAFE’s mission is dedicated to consciousness-raising about, on the one hand, damage from looting and the illicit trading of antiquities and, on the other, to educating the public to respect the laws and treaties that protect cultural property. SAFE organizes educational activities and campaigns in the media. This presentation will illustrate some of the activities in which SAFE is involved. SAFE has no political affiliations.
