Abstract:
A systematic evidence of archaeological activities in Slovakia was founded in 30s of 20th-century. The central documentation centre of archaeology in Slovakia is an archive on Division of the evidence and documentation in Institute of Archaeology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Nitra (SVK), which currently has in evidence 29585 records of archaeological activities. Institute of Archaeology itself has been actively using two information systems – ISAU (Information system of the Institute of Archaeology) and MUSEION since 2015.
For ISAU is as a primary goal evidence of archaeological sites and finds followed by general work with documentation from sites where are fully documented all archaeological activities in Slovakia. Every archaeological activity in system contains information from the type of activity, number of research report, author of archaeological excavation, author of research report, cadastral unit, dating, and type of archaeological sites till a find which is included in the accession catalogue or in graphical form.
There are also research reports as part of this database in digital form as well as is being documented digitized archive of geodetic planes, archive of photos and archive of aerial prospection.
Database Museion is dedicated for working with finds. It simplifies of the evidence of finds, description and documentation. This information system also includes applications which can be used for tracking and manipulating with finds (evidence of movement in depositary, requests for conservation of finds, evidence of conservationist´s activities and additionally there is also there conservational documentation in form of text and images).
Functionality of central evidence of archaeological sites in Slovakia is next to list form managed by also by GeoInformational systems which are able to fix spaces in the sites. First phase of it (provides general information about all activities) is publicly accessed on web side of National geoportal of Slovak Republic.
