Abstract:
New insights in cultural historic sciences and from archaeological excavations have to be documented, described and transferred to existing knowledge collections and colleagues. Besides the thematic aspects, a lot of facts are bound to earth – their spatial dimension. Cartographic visualisation provides a toolbox for expressive and effective graphical presentation of spatial related content. Storytelling extends graphical communication with a timeline and may even enhance cognitive impact with the help of impressive dramaturgy. The latest technological developments make use of multimedia and highly interactive maps with a diversity of devices. All of them make sense for the communication of spatial related archaelogical findings.
