Methodology/Approach
The research was conducted examining the major towns of the valley of the Casentino, in Tuscany, between Arezzo and Florence. The villages, some even of Etruscan origin, have been developed especially in the Middle Ages, but also in later centuries have undergone many significant changes. The work focused on the research and the collection of the oldest maps of the urban centers of the Casentino. Through their analysis and by the comparison with the available written documents it was possible to understand the way the city transformed itself.
