The importance of new information and communication technologies (ICT) for the travel and tourism industry has increased enormously over the past few years. The tourism area is one of those industries, which can gain huge synergy effects from the use of ICT. Travel and tourism is already the most important application domain within then b2c eCommerce domain. Nearly 40% of all b2c eCommerce transactions belong to travel and tourism (or a related) sector. This indicates also change in the value chain and business model of travel and tourism organisations and institutions within this area.
