(Assembly of European Regions)

Regional governments often face tremendous constraints in the preservation and development of their cultural heritage. In most cases this is not only a question of financial means to preserve objects of high cultural value, but it is also quite often a certain uncertainty about what to do with your cultural heritage. Very often, regions have to look abroad to develop adequate regional strategies for the use of cultural heritage and this is where interregional cooperation can contribute significantly.

The presentation will look at two models of interregional cooperation strategies for the development of the regional cultural heritage. One aspect will be the exchange of best practice experiences and its opportunities and limits, the other aspect will look at interregional cooperation to create coherence in the approaches towards the use of common cultural heritage.
