Outline: The research mean to define a method of intervention that allow the management and dissemination of finds stored in Hadrian’s Villa.
Purpose: The Hadrian’s Villa archaeological site, declared by the UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, today is a splendid archaeological park, subject to continuous study and excavation by the team of architects and archaeologists coming from all parts the world.
The site also act as container of finds coming not only from Hadrian’s Villa, but also from the entire territory of Tivoli. Finds of extraordinary value are preserved inside some halls of Hadrian’s Villa such as Cento Camerelle, Serapeo and Piazza d’Oro. The difficulty of access to stores and the huge amount of finds makes it almost impossible the consultation of these artefacts. In collaboration with the Soprintendenza ai Beni Archeologici del Lazio the research mean to define a method of intervention that allow the management and dissemination of these finds.
Methodology/Approach: Starting from digital survey is possible to build a database, continuously available, about the finds preserved in the Hadrian’s Villa. The execution time and quality of the result depends on the methodology adopted. The paper explain a method of digital data treatment that allow not only a faster execution of the models, bat also to ménage a large amount of data.
Results: This approach allows the production of virtual copies of finds easily accessible using a computer workstation. This system allow students to access quickly and without any inconvenience to the valuable material preserved into the stores of Hadrian’s Villa.
Innovations: The main innovation introduced by the search regards the solutions of digital data processing in order to produce of faithful copies of the finds survey.
